Google Authenticator and new phones

Vanquished

Android Expert
Does the Google Authenticator "lock" to a certain device, such as the Blizzard Authenticator, or can I just redownload it on the new E3D and not have any problems using the code it generates to login to my google account?

You have to configure it to work with your new device. Go to your 2 step authorization settings, remove your old device and add your new one. Takes a few minutes.

Edit: Same goes with a device you wipe. Even with a NAND backup, I had to reconfigure my device with Google Authorize.

While I appreciate the extra security that Google Authenticator offers I think they could have made it easier by just adding "Google Authenticator" to the appropriate prompts. I wasted quite a bit of time setting up a new phone by confusing the Google Account and Google Authenticator passwords. Just my 2 cents...
