I just started using android coming from a bberry and initially found many intuitive features were not available, like sync calendar on phone and outlook. A simple solution which works for me is when creating an appointment on your computer using outlook, simply 'invite' another attendee, and send the invite to your gmail account. it will automatically receive the appointment and schedule it, then push the appointment to your device. Works like a charm every time for me!
