Google CEO and Blackberry

quest7

Android Enthusiast
Does anyone know why he is using a blackberry? My blackberry friend is giving me hell about this.

From what I've seen using Google, he was caught using a Blackberry in July 2009. I highly doubt with all of the great Android phones out right now that he would still be using a Blackberry, especially since Android has advanced far beyond BB. Keep in mind that the original Motorola Droid wasn't even released when those articles were written. Android was still in very much its infancy at that stage.

I want my SGS2 for Verizon. :'(

I don't have a problem with it. My friend is trying to say that the CEO knows bb is a better phone and that's way he uses it.

If you want my opinion. Eric Schmidt probably has a ton of phones around, and likely is trying out something different, possibly for a research point of view? Maybe he wants to use his competition a little and see where they can possibly improve some things?

Let's face it - for battery only the bb is awesome. The email was always good too (when RIM's servers decided to be working). The problem was games and internet - they were horrible. Just my opinion though.

I like a companies that allow their ceremonial heads to pick whatever device he/she likes... why not?

I understand where you're coming from but it would look bad if Steve Jobs was caught using a PC at home or Bill Gates having an iPhone. It would give off the impression that they view their own products are inferior to a competitor's product. It's just bad for any CEO to be using a competitor's product even though they have very good equivalents. Another example would be the CEO of Mercedes Benz driving around in a BMW (although realistically it would probably just be a Maybach).

The BB definitely does have it's advantages, but it's disadvantages are glaringly obvious. It is a dream device for instant email, really long battery life, and call quality (best I've ever heard on any phone). It's absolutely horrible for apps, browser is "meh" compared to Android and iOS, and OS7 is the worst OS imo.

Meh is putting it very nicely!! :D

From what I understand, the browser has been greatly improved on the new ones coming out as compared with older BBs. I've never used the older ones so I wouldn't know how much of an increase. The browser is evidently slower than its competition for sure.

That pic has made the round at every BB site. It is truly cherished.

Meh... I think it is hilarious. Android is not to Google as say, QNX is to RIM. Different strategies. I think Google could shut down Android without batting an eyelid.

Maybe Eric (who, as I already noted, is retired from Google, for all intents and purposes) wants to use a physical keyboard. Do your thing man... :D
