Help google contacts not showing up

I have all of my contacts stored on one of my Google accounts. And I currently have my phone linked to that. When I go to sync contacts so I can see them all when I am dialing a number or looking for one, it says that there are 0 contacts under my google account. I just logged into google accounts to check though, and I have all of my contacts on the account. I don't understand, how do I make the contacts show up? It thinks there is nothing to sync.
Thanks in advance! Also sorry if there are similar threads. I did all the troubleshooting on my phone.. much nicer than my old captivate

Correction: when I go to accounts and sync, and I try to sync all of the contacts from my Google account with all of the contacts, it just doesn't do anything. The "main" Google account contacts' are synced. So dont understand why it can't sync contacts with my secondary?
