Help Google Contacts-Synchronization

Right following a tip on another thread i've deleted all the contact on my Desire. When i go to re-sync with my google contacts i'm getting 'sync is currently experiencing problems. it will be back shortly'
The Gmail & calendar are syncing it's just the contacts that wont.
Anybody got any ideas.

Thanks

That could be a Google issue (on their end, not your device's end), johnloughray.

I'd just turn off auto sync and wait for as long as is reasonable (for me, all darned day before trying again, for you it may only be an hour or two ;)).

That is the first step I take.. waiting. Then, I'll try to sync again manually.

If no joy, it's time to go into Google/gmail in application manager and clear cache, data and defaults and reboot the device. The prompt to set the Google account will come up during boot, carefully enter the info and see if it syncs.

If no joy then, a factory data reset (if we're sure Google/gmail is not experiencing its own problems, as mentioned before).

I took your post/question out of the News area and placed it here in the Desire support forum for you.

I'll switch off auto sync and try that. If unsuccessful, where do i find application manager.

I had a problem last week where contacts stopped synchronising with a message displaying for a split second - so quick I couldn't read it.

I checked on Google account on line with the pc and in Contacts noticed an option to combine duplicate contacts, a few of which I had. After doing this the sync went fine and has been ok since.

May be worth checking to see if there is an issue with any of your Contact records that is stopping the sync from progressing. It may not be the issue that you are experiencing but worth a try anyway.

It happens regularly for me so eventually I switched it off. Not a problem as my contacts are sync'd with Outlook.

I picked up a Samsung Transform for Sprint and I've been getting the exact same error message. I thought it was my phone. Maybe it's not.

Just to let everybody know. I've tried the above, going into app manager and everything seems to be syncing now.

Thanks
