When Google introduced Marshmallow, we got a feature called Doze that would restrict apps from waking your device up when it was sitting still for an extended period of time.
This feature will be extended in Android N, as we are learning that Doze will be to kick in when the screen "has been off for a certain time" and it is also on using the battery(not being plugged in).
