Google+ getting annoying

Bit of a newbie question here...

So I let a coworker see my S4...he promptly started messing around with G+ and synced it. Now I do have a G+ account, but I prefer to keep it separate from my phone. The notifications of 'new photos ready to share' are annoying. I'll decide what gets backed up/shared thankyou (knowing what can be gathered from metadata...I'd rather not someone find out where and when I walk dogs).

Is there a way (short of FDR--which I'd prefer not to do--or rooting, which I was planning to do anyway) to disable/deny Google+?

Welcome to the forum :)

Can you not disable the Google+ app, or just clear its data (Settings > Apps > All, select G+ and "clear data")? Or is there a separate item for G+ in the sync settings, which you can turn off?

The reason I'm guessing here is that I don't have a G+ account, and uninstall the G+ app, so have no experience of this. But I'd have thought that those measures should do the trick.

You should be able to turn it off- go into Settings/Accounts/YOURACCOUNT/Sync Settings

Or just disable the app in the Application settings.

You can also kill the photo auto-backup pretty easily within the G+ app itself.

Menu > Settings > Auto Backup, turn that sucker OFF.

Yup ^^
In Settings, Accounts, when i tap my email address i get this uploadfromtaptalk1385413257294.jpg
Just tap "google+" and do what you want with it.
(Dont worry mods the gmail add in my pic isnt important/private) :)

EDIT. ^ Thats what i get when i tap "google". This is what i get when i tap my addy uploadfromtaptalk1385413534186.jpg
Pretty self explanatory.
You can opt out of any google service afaik
