Root Google Maps 5.0 on rooted Eris?

Has anyone tried this (perhaps using one of the APKs floating around)? Are you able to get any of the new features working? Do you see the benefits of the vector graphics in terms of bandwidth? Is it slower/faster than the versions of Google Maps that we've been running?

FYI, I'm running on KaosFroyo 37, thinking of moving to Nonsensikal.

Definitely faster as far as rendering goes. I haven't had a chance to test out the 3D part, but my bet is that it doesn't work on our phones.

I installed the update on nonsensikal 15.2 but I can't figure out how to get the 3d to work. As Zero says our phones probably can't handle it.

The Help section states that you need multi-touch panning support for 3d. You place two fingers on the screen and move them and do a swipe motion. On the Eris with Nonsensikal it just moves you around.

IIRC, It said that the only phones that were capable were the Motorola Droids and Samsung Galaxies.

I'm on nonsensikal 15.2 and used the navigation this morning, both maps and navigation were super fast, I was very impressed.
