Help Google Maps battery drain

Love this app, but since the update yesterday it is chewing through my battery. Maps is 3rd place at the moment right after screen and phone idle!
Have not opened the app or anything else that uses GPS since the phone came off the charger this morning. Been at the office, so no travel.
Anyone else seeing higher battery drain by Maps as well?

It doesn't even show up on my stats, so I am not seeing it. Try clearing data and cache on the maps app and see if that makes it play nice.

Did you check on the map setting to see if you are signed into latitude after last update? I noticed that for last couple of google map updates. Latitude will always try to track and report your location in map, so it will drain battery faster than when not signed into it.

I cleared data/cache and uninstalled Maps as far as it would let me on stock which basically means it uninstalls all updates for the app and re-installed it.
Will also check Latitude. I never use it and should not be signed in at all.

Let's see how it goes.

update:
One thing I already noticed it that it no longer speaks street names. *sigh*
That issue had just fixed itself after I updated to 4.0.4. Well that didn't last long lol!
