Google Maps Nav on Eris???

I've been doing a lot of research lately, on this forum as well as others and I read somewhere that someone was able to port google maps navigation to there eris. I can't remember if it was this site or somewhere else. Can anyone confirm this? I also read that the people over at xda-developers were able to get it working on the G1 which I believe is running either android 1.5 or 1.6. Here is the link; Google Maps Navigation Ported to T-Mobile G1 | Android Central.

It would be great if we could get this working on our Eris, I really don't care for any of the other 2.0 features besides this.

Google maps, but not the nav. Unless someone has uncovered the secret just recently.

Google maps is already on the Eris by default so I am pretty sure it would be the voice nav they are referring to.

You could try their guide on the Eris and let us know what happens. If worst comes to worst you can do a factory reset.

They have uncovered the secret to getting the navigation part working on the G1, just like what's on the motorola droid, I know that someone on this forum was able to hack it into their eris, just don't know how they did it. I'm hoping they'll come across this thread and tell us how. :)

Yeah they should, I don't think there is anything wrong with doing that except you won't be able to ask verizon for help if you screw something up.
