That's what I figure. It seems like some folks have worked around this, but the solutions all appear to be more advanced than I'm ready to go at the moment. What rom would you recommend for mytouch? I'd like to stay on 1.6, as I don't see any need to go up to eclair or froyo.

Oh, and if I flash a new rom I assume I'll lose all my settings and apps?? Or is that only if I wipe first? Still learning here...

Go here select your phone and depending on the type of board you have 32a or 32b you have the select AOSP 1.6 or higher for a rom.

I dont know exactly which one you have but i am biased to the rom, that i am currently using. I have not had any issues and i have been using it for about 2-3 weeks. And google maps does work. LOL

If its a 32b board use the one in my sig. Its 2.1 and FAST...
If its a 32a go for super d.

Its all really up to you and your style.


Edit:

Use astro to back up all your apps. I use it and like it. Also you ALWAYS want to wipe your phone prior to installing a new rom AFTER you do a back up. Always do a back up first just in case.

Installed CM 5.0.8 and Maps updated itself with no problems.
