Google Maps running in background

Hi,

I've recently installed the 2.3 upgrade and all is working well. However I've noticed that Google Maps is constantly running in the background (discovered while using Manage Applications) and even if force it to stop it still starts up again automatically.
Anyone have any idea why this is running at all?

Do you use latitude ?
Mine was always running until I signed out of latitude then It stopped restarting

Nope, never knowingly used Latituide.
