Google navigation for T-mobile hero android?

Sorry, not much time to search at the minute.

I noticed Google maps are doing navigation for Android 1.6. I'm pretty sure I'm on 1.5 (t-mobile Europe).
Is T-mobile still testing the 1.6 update (as I seem to remember it was a good while back)?
Are we likely to get it at all, or will I have to go with third party ROM update to get Google Navigation?

If so, which is best.

Again, apologies if the information is already here, but not got a lot of time right now to search the forum fully.

Check the (many) threads about the 2.1 update. At the minute, your phone is running Android 1.5, which doesn't support Google maps navigation - but an over the air update next month will update your phone to 2.1, and you will get the google navigation as standard.

Assuming HTC releases the update on time.

I suppose the same is valid for Google Goggles? I tried installing it and it says not available for my phone.
