Google Now - always show certain cards?

I'm trying to like Google Now, but it's frustrating that I can't pick certain cards to always display. The weather is always there, which is good, but I also want the "nearby events" card to always display... but there's no way to do this?

I get that most cards are meant to appear when needed, but just like weather is of interest basically all the time, so too are some other cards.

It is a little frustrating that there is no way to make certain cards show all the time. If I had to bet, I'd bet that google catches on to this fairly soon and adds it as an option in an update to the google search app.

Right now, Google Now appears to be more voodoo than todo. I kind of like the unpredictableness of what my or may not pop up and having an occasional "oh yeah, I do want to know about that"

But there really should be more science to it, as the OP says above.

Yeah google now doesnt do much really useful stuff for me yet but i have faith in its future so i keep it enabled

I like that it prompts shipping tracking info and status of my flight.
