Google Now Launcher

What am I missing? Everyone talks about the amazing benefits and convenience of being able to simply swipe to get to Google Now. I can do that now just as easily by simply tapping on my Google Search icon or widget on my TouchWiz home screen. What is the big difference? I feel like I'm not grasping something very simple here. Thank you for your explanations.

"coz it's Google"
Lol seriously I've never seen the attraction.
I use Nova Prime Launcher which can assign gestures so I just swipe a finger up the homescreen to launch Google Now.
Maybe someone can tell us the advantages.
Is it true you can't use custom icons on Google launcher without an Xposed module?

It's part of Google reference design to show manufacturers what they consider a launcher to be. And because some people like it they've put it on general release.

To be honest it's fine, but I prefer nova. If you're happy with touchwiz then feel free to stick with it.... Different strokes for different folks.
