Google Now - Manually create voice links?

elanning

Greetings;

Is there any way to manually assign an action for Google Now to take when you ask it to do something? The situation I have is, I pull up Google Now, say "Google" and then ask it to call a friend. It consistently, 100% of the time fails to pull up the right contact for a specific friend who's name is Ivy. And in my address book that is how she is listed. With other contact names it has no problem but this one it just can't get its' head around.

So is there a way for me to teach it what I mean? To create a link between the phrase I am speaking and the contact that it seems unable to find in my address book?

This seems specific to Google Now, as when I use the general speech to text feature when say sending a text message I can just press on a word it got wrong and it gives me other suggestions and it seems to then learn from that.

Hope that makes sense, thanks.

I am using an HTC Droid DNA, un-rooted, Android 4.1.1

I don't know if you can force it to perform an action, but you can supposedly personalize the voice recognition to improve it. I think its under settings > input & voice > voice recognition > personalize (or something like that). I guess when you say a name and then select the correct contact that the phone learns your pronunciation....in theory. I haven't tried it, instead I just intentionally mispronounce my wife's name...
