Root google now on motion?

I'm curious, does anyone know if there's a way to get google now on the motion? Even without jelly bean?

I'm not sure of what you mean? Android is Google. This has Ice Cream Sandwich on it, which is Android 4.0. Plus it has all the Google apps such as gmail, the Google calendar, and so on. This is Android, which is Google.

Hes talking about "Google Now". As the siri-type app that is on jellybean. Not actually Google.

And you can just voice commands don't work.

[MOD] Working Google Now on ICS (Stock Rooted) - Flashable.Zip - xda-developers

download the flashable zip..

unzip it on your computer

put a copy of the unzipped files on your SD card..

now this is the tricky part

the unzipped files will have a system folder...

if you use a root browser on your phone you can navigate to the system folder...

now what you need to do is copy everything that is in the system folder from the Zip into the matching folder on your phone...

make backups of the originals when needed...

so it is more tedious than flashing but it still gets the files where they need to be and it works...

i have Google Now on my phone because of this and it works rather well

you have to use Voice Controls to do it and in the settings of voice controls you have to activate Google Now

i don't have any way to make a video... :\

but i will try...not right now...but when i get home this evening...

it is kind of complicated for those who do not know their way around Android...

but basically...what you want to do is merge the system folder from Mikey6_offline.zip into the root system folder of your phone...

Just use quick memo to make a guide haha

Confirming that this works. I love Google now on my nexus 7 and now that I can use it on my motion I feel pretty content. It took a while to get it working, moving the files manually and changing the permissions, but it works near flawlessly.

Good find.

If you have root explorer app, you just copy system folder from zip, paste it to root directory where "system" folder is located. it's going to ask you to merge the folders, just click yes and it's done.

File manager from rom toolbox does not work the same way it copies the files and renames them to something "some name -copy.co". old files stay in folders.

I did it on 2 phones already.

Press and hold menu.

I set it as a gesture in nova prime. You can do it in some of the other launchers too (apex and holo for sure). I'm sure you knew that tho, saying as a point of reference for others.

I set it to swipe up for sake of consistency, my nexus 7 opens Google now my holding down the home button and swiping up.
