Root Google Now Question

Newbie
Hello to all my fellow Spiritoenions! I am a transplant from the Esteem forum, as I have just changed phones. I hope i made a wise choice, i loved my esteem.

I have read several different posts on the installation procedures for Google Now. But being that the Spirit is closely related to the Motion, i take it i should just follow the advice on
there procedure guide? Who has it installed and is it worth doing? Which zip file did u use, Mikey6_Offline, M7_Offline (but i think this is for a ARMv7 not 6), or Google_Now_ICS_for_ARMv6.zip?

I hope this forum grows with supporters, and we can share our knowledge together.

Since you looked at the motions threads. Make sure your rooted and have the recovery app download the mikey6 offline make a back up and flash the zip hope this works for you!

It is a little buggy sometimes. For example, your Google search bar on the home screen will default to using Google Now. Which is fine when you want to use it (keep in mind you've got gave your data, or Wi-Fi, location settings granted and most likely GPS on to get the full Now effect). This can be a quick and major battery drain. Here's the buggy part, once you've searched for "whatever your searching for" and you get your list of suggestions, at least this is what happens to me, you've gotta press the link like three times quickly to get it to respond.

Thx everyone for the quick responses. Yes i read over all of those threads, this is why i wanted to actually hear from members that have done it. And i guess my suspicions were correct, still buggy. I don't mind testing but having it freeze when you use the back tab, and from what rickpcmp3 just described would irritate me too much.

Plus there are great alternatives in the play store

I installed it also. So far the only thing I've used was the weather feature. Haven't really messed with the other features. Anyone found any cool stuff with it?

Yep it told me that Android out sells IOS:D

LOL!! So true! I seriously hate apple products! I believe anyone who buys apple products seriously doesn't know very much and loves paying for a name and not what it does. My belief, no one else's. :)

yep and most gs3 fanboys are former iPhone fanboys. they flock to whats popular like sheep.:p:dancing2::fight:

very true. I've always had android. well pre android sure. But never owned an apple product and probably never will. Unless someone gives me a imac for FREE. I wil never buy one.

How good is this Google now app? Is it fully functional?
I included it in my rom because it works really well. I like it more than siri and s voice.

I've asked it silly questions like, where does michael jordan live, and it speaks back the answer accurately.

Or I tell it to do things on my phone like open contacts or call so & so and it gets the job done. The tiles on it are useful too.

I guess you have to play with it to see if you like it. I'm sure it wont be for everyone.

by the way... thanks for testing rom
