I received the new update. However I don't see a "News" card, as well as a couple others. Does the Chrome browser need to be "enabled" for Now to work best? I normally use Dolphin and have Chrome disabled.
I don't believe that the Google Search app has any dependency on the Chrome browser - it should work fine with whatever is set as your default.
And the "News" (and other) cards may not show up immediately, but should start to appear as you search for stuff and it figures out what sort of news might be relevant to your interests.
You have to go in and enable the ones you want to view. For example, if you have your Web History turned on, any news article you search for it will remember. Right now I've been heavily looking for news on Android 4.4, so those are the cards I see lately.
Here's an example: Open Google Now. Down on the bottom right you will see a little magic wand, tap it. When it opens tap on Everything else. Tap on Continue to get updates on your news searches and then tap Yes.
Ah, that's probably why. I'm on Android 4.3 and getting 4.4 soon, so what I wrote above was for the new Google Search (Google Now) update that I just received earlier today.
