Google Now's gender identity issues

For some bizarre reason between now and 2 days ago, my Google voice switched from being a female voice to a male one. It also sounds quite British now (not sure, only heard 2 words)?
But I haven't changed any settings, still on English (US).
Anyone else been experiencing Google Now being quite ambiguous in the gender department? I was a bit startled :p

Hasn't changed for me. Well, perhaps it's a different woman's voice, slightly more natural.
Checked both my N7 and Gnex. Perhaps it's because you're abroad?

Well that's the thing, I've always been abroad :p
Nothing about my location has changed in the past days, there's really nothing I can think of to explain this little quirk :>
But that's all it is tho, a quirk. In fact I kind of like being surprised by Google. Although if they're gonna be changing voices around I'd welcome an option to select it myself.

It sounds like your text to speech output was switched from the US to the British voice. You can check this by going to settings/language & input/text-to-speech output. Then next to the Google Text-to-speech engine, click the setting button, choose the language option, and choose the english (united states). That should get you the woman back.

Haha thanks! No idea why I didn't figure that out myself, I knew that setting was there. Guess I just never used it on any previous devices. Now that I have a choice, I'm not sure what to pick :p
The British accent is pretty fun but the voice sounds more mechanical than the US one.

I was running Google Navigation recently and suddenly for one instruction only, it switched gender. Made me laugh.
