Do you have to have a Google play account to buy the nexus? The reason I ask is because my parents are buying the phone for me for Christmas and I'm pretty sure my mom doesn't have an account. I need to know so I can get her to set one up before the 13th.

You will need an account to buy from Google Play. If you buy elsewhere (retail) then you don't need an account to make the purchase.

True, but if you want to buy an app or something you will have to provide a credit card number. You do not need to use the google wallet.

Yeah they both have Samsung tablets and phones. I just recently showed them how to send pics back and forth with Bluetooth.
