Help google play automatically connects to WiFi

i have data plan on my verizon phone and i usually turn off WiFi. however, whenever i start google play app, it automatically connects to WiFi. is this normal and is there a way to configure google play NOT to connect to WiFi?

In the play settings, tap Auto Update and see if "update over wifi only" is selected. Just a guess tbh lol :thumbup:

in the play settings->auto update, i have 'do not auto-updare' selected

So you have wifi turned off in settings but when you launch Play it turns on?

that is correct. i have the 4G data plan on and whenever i launch google play, it turns on WiFi, thus connects to my home WiFi. this is odd, isn't it?

verizon. google play can't be carrier dependent, correct?
