Help Google play. Blue square icon

[Hawker]

If you go into "my apps" in google play, some apps have a little segmented blue square/diamond icon next to them.
Any idea what this represents?

It means they are from a top developer.

Obvious really eh!?

I noticed the same thing and had the same question, but now, assuming that the proposed answer is correct, the new question is:

What is a top developer?

Just whatever serves Google's self-interest best? I actually made a list of them from my phone and tablet, and I couldn't figure out any pattern except that there don't seem to be any Japanese developers that qualify.

This is google's definition from their faq page
Top Developer: Some of the very best developers on Google Play, chosen by Google Play team

What a modest bunch that Google Play team are then eh?
