Google Play lousy selection! :(

Hi all,

I was sooooo looking forward to getting the Note 2. However, after seeing the very slim pickings on Google Play for TV shows, I'm thinking-no way. What's the point of a 5.5" screen if there's nothing to watch! I don't know if it's because Apple owns the rights to so many shows, but Google really needs to step up their game. How do you all cope with such a lousy selection? Any feedback will be appreciated, even if it's to insult me!

Are you really paying apple's crazy prices for tv shows? I'm an iPhone user and I think you're crazy. Netflix for TV shows. Always. Or find a free streaming website that supports HTML5 since flash is kinda buggy and no longer supported.

Give it some time. Google Play just started selling TV shows and movies in the summer this year. They will need some time to catch up. I don't buy TV shows either. For older ones, I watch them on Amazon or Netflix. For the newer/current ones, I watch them on the station websites or Hulu.

I have not even had time for TV on my Note 2.
But, I think that in short order there will be more apps for that.
I remember not long ago that the Play Store had so few apps overall that people were saying how could we even use Android? Now, look at things.
Just give it time.

Lateck,

Thanks all for the feedback. I'll probably end up getting the Note and going with Hulu Plus for now, they have the best selection of retro TV shows. I actually never intended to get the Note, or any Android phone. What happened was after the iPhone 5 came out, I went to the AT&T store to see it, figuring it's time I upgraded from my 3gs model. Anyhow, I was not impressed by the 5, at all. I looked at the Galaxy S3, didn't like that either, screen too dim even at its brightest setting, etc. Anyhow right next to the S3 display was the note. I started messing around with it, and totally fell in love with the 5.5" screen. I watched some videos, played some games, surfed the web, and I was hooked. That 5.5" AMOLED display is freaking awesome!

You can use DROID tv.. That's in Google play.. I have a subscription and it works perfectly.. It has the latest tv shows.. No movies right now..You can rent or buy movies from the movie hub and bill it to your bill if you don't want to use your credit/debit card...

I don't have a lot of time to watch TV on my phone. When I do I turn to Netflix and HBO Go.

+1 for HBO Go - Hundreds of Movies, Documentary's and Series to choose from. YouTube has some really great programming as well. If you are a music fan, you can find full concerts, some free movies...
