Did you make a backup to the internal sd card? You're gonna have to reboot to recovery and delete the backup from there.
Internal storage is too small for a backup of the entire phone. You need to backup to the external SD card (if you have one). If you don't have one, get like a 16 or 32GB one. The bigger the better.
