Root Google play services

Just flashed a copy of vinman12's TN_Elousions 3 and after the rom settled in the Google Play updated to 10.4 MB, everything working fine. A short time later an update for GOOGLE PLAY SERVICES for 13.2 MB shows up. REALLY!!! 23.6 MB for the ability download and/or buy apps!!! REALLY!!! So I deleted it, and it reinstalled while I was sleeping. You can't shut it down, runs 24/7 draining the battery. Google wants us all to just sit plugged into our chargers hitting the app buy button all day. Google should pay my phone bill they use it more than I do!!!

we can keep it here if you like cuz i think that there was a way to make it so that the play store does not update.....i just can't remember it at the moment. as soon as i find the link i'll post it here.....but i know there is a way.

To ocnbrze go over to Team Nocturnal then EVO Dev. check out Elousions 3 Blue Theme, the post is by vinman12. Go to pages 14 and 15 I posted some screen shots there. It's basically the same as MikG 3.11, but its running the latest OTA 5.07.651.6 releaesd in Feb/2013 I think. Tell me what you think!!

Great!! As for the redmond pie post, it didn't work my emulator said no such file. So I altered the file and it found the right file and said permission denied. Sooo, I have been denied, trust me not the first time!!! I'll take any other ideas you have.

As for aosp while I like keeping to a basic/raw rom I don't want to give some of the extra goodies like 4g and FFC.

those issues are only for ics and jb roms. deck's reloaded or thunderstruck are very great aosp roms to try out, if you want something other then sense which i'm not a big fan of.....everything works with those roms.

Cool, I have Thunderstruck v3.03, I have not tried Deck's Reloaded .500. I will give it a try.

ocnbrze Did you happen find what you were looking for? I have been wondering around to, still have not found anything.

What I would like to do is keep the Play Store, allow it to update when I start it. Then have it not run when I don't need it. Then delete Google Play Services, the Play Store does function without it. OOOOh Boy!!! I'm I asking way to much here!!! LOL
 
no not yet. it was back in the froyo days so those threads are much harder to find. it has something to do with the market updater. though now that i think about it, it might be different since it has changed to the play store.....i'll keep looking.
