Root Google Play Space Issues

Hey guys just got this phone for the wife so I have not rooted or anything and after loading some apps on it, I am getting the insufficient space message almost every app I try to update or install. I verified that I have 70 meg of internal space and 1.8 gig free on the fake SD-Card and then 2 gig free on the real SD-Card. I am very confused by how there is insufficient space, unless this is a dalvic cache issue which I have never quite understood either.

Please let me know if I am alone in this and if there are any tips for fixing

try settings>apps>google play store now clear cache clear data and you should be good to go
