it's now up and running as I have joined now
I left F.B. and went to Google+ for several different reasons but I have always been frustrated that I can't send a video chat request and get my wife's phone to ring. I have to call her first and tell her that I want to start a video chat. They finally fixed that in the newest update! For those who don't know how to do it and want to know, here it is.
While on any page in google+ e.g. stream, profile, messenger, hangout, etc., tap on the upper left corner where there is a "<". This will open a menu. Click on Hangout. Type or select a person you want to video chat with. Make sure "Ring On" is displayed and select start. The other persons phone will ring with a full page message and slider to answer. You can add several people to join the hangout also. It uses voice activation from the person who is talking to figure out which video feed to display. This only works when there are more than 2 people in the hangout of course. You can ring any android phone that has the latest google+ update but I'm not sure about IOS yet.
I hope the next step for them is to integrate the video chat with everything else. I would like to be able to select it straight from other apps like contacts.
