Google/Samsung Tablet

GalaxyNexus

Does anybody have any idea what tablet was next to the Galaxy Nexus?

I'd like to make a separate section for this tablet, but there hasn't been any names yet, only speculation. Whether it's a Galaxy Tab or a special Google Tab, I couldn't figure out a name.

I'm really interested in getting one of these tablets. I'd rather wait to get one of these than a Transformer Prime. It'd be pretty annoying having Honeycomb on your tab, and ICS on your phone.

Mods, please move this if necessary. :)

The Transformer Prime is coming with ICS so that wouldn't really be an issue, that's why it was delayed. Other than that I believe the Xoom is considered the "Nexus" tablet because that's the developer standard tablet plus now that Moto is part of Google it will be even more Google supported.

Actually, the Prime is coming with Honeycomb. It will however be the first Tab with ICS.;)

Sorry I phrased that poorly but from what I understand and from what ASUS claims the TP will ship with 3.0 but will be immediately upgradeable to 4.0. I assume this is because they already have manufactured quite a bit and it will be easier to immediately put out an OTA. Although other articles aren't as sure about it but either way it would seem the ASUS TP will get the ICS update before any tablet is sold with it from the factory except for maybe the Lenovo one but ASUS is pretty fast about updates.

Snugggles, while I haven't used the Samsung Galaxy tabs and have no doubt they are pretty good but I do have the original Transformer and it is pretty darn good. I love the build quality and support by ASUS. I can't imagine how great the Prime will be because it looks amazing.

I'm looking to get a TABLET with ICS to go along with my new Gnex phone. Should I wait until samsung comes out with a TABLET with ICS or just go with the Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201 with HC and wait for the update? Would there be any pros waiting for a samsung tablet with ICS or cons just going with the Transformer Prime?

I've heard great things about Samsung and Asus tablets. I have heard that Asus is outstanding at updating their products, so that is definitely a pro. And we also know that it's going to be updated to ICS very quickly. Samsung hasn't said when their tabs are going to be upgraded to ICS yet.

I, however, am curious if anyone has heard any rumors about a possible 7 inch Prime. I'm debating between a smaller Galaxy Tab and HOPEFULLY a 7 inch Transformer Prime. The $500 mark is a pretty steep price for the Transformer Prime (for me).

I agree asus and samsung are on top of android tablet game. Asus lacks variety of sizes like samsung tabs. Never heard 7" transformer is in the work. I would look for 7.7" tab with HD SAMOLED plus with Exynos processor unveiled in berlin, though still not ceetain when it will come into US.

You don't need to bring up nearly one year old news. Xoom was just first tablet with HC. But that's all. It was horrible on 4G upgrade and enabling micro sd slot. Transformer has been updated faster and will be firt tablet running ICS.

The Nexus S sucked too.. is it not a Nexus anymore? Nobody is trying to say the Xoom > Transformer ..
Xoom = Nexus in a Tablet ...

You can insist Xoom=nexus tablet all you want. But fact is Google is not maintaining its update like nexus device.

Care to cite a source to support this?

The Xoom was slow to upgrade because with the Android 3.0 release the code to support SD did not exist yet. Many of the other HC tablet vendors wrote their own interim routines to enable tablet support until Google could finish their development effort.

The Xoom was released with Android 3.0 which did not yet support SD cards. The Transformer was released with Android 3.2 which did...
