Help google sky map horizon not level

morning all , i have google sky map on my desire ,was working fine , however now when i open it the horizon is miles out and wanders about when i move the phone , so the stars must be out too ,
is there a recallibration that needs resetting , any help appreciated
have uninstalled and it is the same after new install

move/wave the phone found in a 'figure 8' when sky maps is on it worked for me

lol apart from looking a bit daft , this did nothing , ive noticed it also points to the east when the south would be the right direction , heeeelp

The figure-of-8 trick is for recalibrating the compass. If the horizon isn't level that suggests a problem in the accelerometer readings. Have you dropped the phone at all? It might be that you have a broken accelerometer. Try installing a level application and seeing if that works properly.

thanks to all , had to call orange in the end , sat nav worked , a spirit level app worked fine too, however compass app failed like sky map , master reset has sorted it, but what a pain to do , hope it does not fail again cos handset has not been knocked or dropped .
