Help Google sync issues

I am trying to sync my google and right now I get an error message that says "sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly". I wouldn't usually worry about it but it has been a few hours. Has anybody else had this problem and is there really anything I can do?

My phone never synced to my gmail contacts, bought it in Dec, put up with it NOT syncing (giving me the same error message you posted)until this week when I reset the phone to factory defaults (had to back EVERYTHING up first and reinstall after) and it worked. Gmail contacts sync now. That was the only solution Verizon or anyone else could give me after trying the typical battery pull, blablabla.
