Google sync problems

I have been trying to sync my contacts for the last couple of days with no luck. I keep getting the error "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly"

I'm getting very frustrated because it says my last sync was June 10th.

Any ideas?

Have you tried re-adding the account?

I was having the same problem too. I successfully got rid of the error and just turned off sync after it was fixed. I don't add that many contacts anyway and figure that it's a good way to decrease battery consumption.

I tried all the things I could find online. Deleting the "favorites" group. Clearing the Gmail cache, etc.

I finally ended up doing a factory reset and everything is working smoothly now. My phone is running much better all around actually.
