Google TV

I wanted to know what everybody thinks the best Google TV box is. And by the best I mean the one that works the best, not necessarily has the most fancy features. I just had a Vizio co star for about a month and a half and I now have to return it. I really liked it, except just had too many bugs and issues. For example, the last straw was when out of nowhere when I push the Guide button instead of bringing up my directv TV Guide, it brings up the prime time app. I I have done everything I could possibly think of, including a factory reset of my co star and there is just no way I can actually get the guide to come up from my directv box. I can change channels up and down I can even see my list of recorded shows in the DVR, but I cannot actually look at the guide.

So considering I want to stay around the same price range, maybe up to $150, I want something that's just simple like the Vizio co star but actually works great all the time. Something with the nice simple remote with the keyboard on the back, and a touchpad. Thank you for your advice.

Thanks anyways. I finally figured out the issue right before I returned it. Because of the latest update it was set by default for the guide button to open the Primetime app. With no warning or instructions how to change it. I finally figured it out that by searching deep into the settings menu of the Primetime app itself there was an option to change it. So basically after the last update this app hijacked the system to an extent by itself and left it up to the user to figure out the problem and how to change it. The app didn't even work by the way. Needless to say I gave it a low rating in the play store.

Well the idea of it I love a lot. And it's functional for the most part. I've had some issues with the Wi-Fi, but I'm pretty sure it's my providers fault and not the costars because I have Wi-Fi issues on every device in the house. Another issue is when I'm watching steaming video from my pc if I pause it, when I replay it sometimes it opens up the Google play music app for some strange reason, causing me to have to restart the stream and try navigating to where I left off.

But other than that it's great. A million times better than a roku player. It streams easily, right out of the box: Amazon instant video, Netflix, files from computers, a million other things I don't use or know about. You've got the play store with all its apps. Email, web surfing on Google chrome, etc. And your TV signal goes through it, so everything is done from the vizio costar remote. It's a fully immersive experience, just like having a smart TV with Google tv on it. I couldn't possibly go back to normal TV.

We've got the Sony internet player with Google tv and it's fab. Having more problems with our tv than the player lol. We've used it to download apps, stream movies and TV series, play games. It really is pretty good. My only gripe is that it's only on honeycomb version of Android with no updates available. All my other android stuff are on Jellybean so it takes a little remembering where to find things

I just got a Vizio brand for myself since I already own a Vizio HDTV and it had worked well for the last two years, and the remote works with both saving me from using a separate universal remote. It comes with Google Play and Chrome so I will report back if it works well, same price as Apple TV but offers far more.

Wasn't aware they ran Android! Is this true? Screenshot on box looks like it
