Help Google Voice App/Custom Text Sounds

I have my sprint number integrated with my google voice and downloaded the voice app. I was using an app called Ringo to make custom text alert sounds for individual contacts. Since switching to using the voice app, I cannot seem to change the text alert sound at all, for all texts or per contact texts. I tried turning off the sound alert in the messaging app per instructions from ringo, but still no luck. Does anyone know a way around this? I am a new user of Android coming from 2 years on the Palm Pre. Loveing the EVO 3D!!!

I don't think the GV app is nearly as advanced as most people wish it were.

You can change the text sound for all texts in Google Voice under settings -> Sync & Notifications -> Select ringtone. I don't believe you can change it for individual contacts.

I use Handcent, it will let you customize notifications for each contact.
