Google Voice help request

I am trying to set up google voice to use for text messages, but I have been unable to. I have changed the settings so it should go to google voice rather than the messaging app. When I go into google voice and the text folder there was no "compose" option on the menu like the google voice help menu said there would be. I had my wife send me a test text, and it went to messaging instead of google voice.

I have an SGS2 on AT&T running a CM9 nightly from late June. Thanks for all of the help.
 
to receive texts to google voice the google voice number must be used(if different from your actual line).

compose is the bottom left, looks like a pad with a pencil.

you cannot send nor receive any attachments with google voice though
