I got it working - I now have an active Google Voice account!
Here is how i did it :
1. I downloaded UltraSurf from here (to spoof US IP Address) :
Download UltraSurf
2. I then got myself a US phone Number from IPKall here :
http://phone.ipkall.com/
3. Once I got my number, I started the UltraSurf program and started IE.
4. Then, I created a VOIP SIP account here :
VoIP User - the Voice over IP resource, btw, DO NOT USE YOUR GMAIL, HOTMAIL Accounts as the email address, you cannot create a SIP Number.
5. When logged into voipuser, I created a SIP Account (under 'My SIP Account')
6. So, now we need to forward the IPKall number to the account created on VOIPUser - So login to your IPKall account and put the following details in :
SIP Phone Number : {Enter the Username you specified in the 'My Sip Account' in you VoipUser accounjt
SIP Proxy : sip.voipuser.org
7. Press 'Submit' to save settings
8. Download 3CXPhone from the Andoird Market
9. Configure 3CXPhone to your VOIPUser account by using the following settings :
Profile Name : {Whatever you like}
User : {As you specified on VOIPUser}
Password : {As you specified on VOIPUser}
External Server : sip.voipuser.org
10. Save the new Profile and it should connect
11. Now for the fun bit....go to google.com/voice and login using your GMail account credentials. (make sure you are still on UltraSurf)
12. It will fire up a Setup screen - follow the steps.
13. When it asks you to enter a Mobile or Home phone to forward to, enter the one you created on IPKall
14. Google will call you to verify the number (which will ring on your Android phone). Enter the number they want (displayed on your screen during setup)
15. Complete the rest of the steps and your done! Enjoy your new Active Google Voice account outside the US.
You now
do not need to start UltraSurf if you want to login to your GV account!
Now, what I did to enhance the usage within the UK was to have a UK number divert to the IPKall number, which then goes to my Google Voice Number. Here is what I did :
1. Log back into your account on VOIPUser.org
2. Go to 'My Numbers' (left hand menu)
3. Click to request a new number
4. Select the 'Number Type' and click 'Request'
5. Return to My Numbers and edit the Termination Settings (click on number)
6. Set Destination 1 to a PSTN and select USA +1 and enter your GoogleVoice number (no dashes or brackets etc)
Hopefully, when its activated in the UK, I will remove the US Phones from the GV Account, put in my UK phone number(s) and request a new UK Google Voice Number and I am ready to ROCK!
