Help Google Voice integration issues

So Sprint just gave us Google Voice integration with our phones, so we can use the built in messaging app for SMS and MMS. I was receiving text messages in that app just fine, up until today.

I was having trouble accessing my voicemail, so I decided to install the GV app so I can get direct access to it, but then that app took over my SMS and I no longer get the messages on the Sense messaging app. I uninstalled GV, rebooted, but still no go.

Has anyone else had this issue?

The problem is that phone calls and sms messages are now going to go directly to google voice rather than your phone, just like it would if you were using google voice normally (with its own number). As for sms, all text messages will go to your shared google voice inbox, and stop there unless you tell it otherwise. So, go to your google voice settings, select "Edit" for the phone you want to actually receive the text messages on (like you would without google voice), then check the box that says "Receive text messages on this phone". That will forward text messages (as the person that originally sent it) to your phone. The only problem with it is that if you reinstall the google voice app, and have notifications enabled, you'll get the google voice notification and the normal text message every time you get a text. If you don't install the app, then it will do exactly what you're asking.

I feel like such a dummy. Apparently when I initiated the integration, the option to send SMS to my phone was disabled (either by me or the GV integration) even though I had enabled it a few days before. Thanks. I don't know why I didn't check there before.

No problem :). I'll admit, Google needs to work on this integration a little better. It's *not* apparently obvious how to make this work correctly. There are so many seemingly similar options that do different things.

Last I heard, there isn't a really an official "live" date. They're just rolling it out to small groups of people at a time. Maybe towards the end, they'll just release it for everyone. Who knows. That being said, if you have't been to google.com/voice/sprint, and signed up for the email notification, make sure you go to google.com/voice every once in a while to see if they added you, and you just don't know it. You, of course, have to enable it yourself.

Go figure it would go live the day after I posted that. So there you go. It's live for everyone now, apparently.

I have a quick question, hopefully some one here is able to answer.

With GV set up, i now receive 2 notifications for text messages and VM. Is there away to stop this, as it gets annoying to open 2 separate apps to answer one VM or Text.

Sorry if this has been answered before. I have been searching every where for over 2 hours now, with no answers in sight. please help

Oh, BTW i have a samsung epic with stock 2.2.1 EC05, rooted. Thank you in advance for all the help.

I think you have to sign out of the application. Does anyone know how it affects your minutes?

I don't see any way to avoid the double notification. I suppose if you enable forwarding of voicemails to your gmail account, and disable GV notifications, you'd essentially get an email notice instead of a gvoice notice. I'm still trying to figure it out. I wish they had separate notice types for Gvoice so you could pick and choose. I would also like a pop up window for texts so I didn't have to unlock the screen to read my texts.

What I would really like to do is use my GV account as a separate line when I'm working from home. I want to be able to call with my real number to people I know on a personal basis, but use a google number as an alternate number for work use, so that work related people don't have my personal cell phone number. Is it possible for me to do this? I would like to be able to just use my Evo and not have to activate a secondary line.
