Help Google Voice Integration

fallaen

Newbie
I just got the Motorola Triumph earlier today and have been playing with it. So far so good. Guess I got lucky and haven't encountered a lot of problems other people have. The only thing I have found is that when making Google Voice calls, it doesn't show the actual number I called in the call logs, instead it shows a google voice number that was used to call? If that makes sense. I'm assuming this is a problem with GV itself and not the phone, hopefully. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I just got mine and havent had time to play with it yet but I have a Nexus S on boost and when I use google Voice it shows the number of the person I called so maybe its a VM thing...I will test mine later on to see.

EDIT- After trying the google voice on my Triumph it displays the google voice number being dialed in the call log not the person I was calling...weird. Must be a Virgin Mobile thing.

Outbound Google Voice calls just work that way...
did the same on my droid with Verizon too...

I had Verizon and it showed who I called not what GV dialed...in fact, Virgin is the only one I've seen do this...and I have or have had them all.

Yeah, I had GV on my Motorola Droid and it worked fine. I hope they can fix this. I'm OCD enough that this bothers me.

I'm noticing the same thing; I don't remember this happening on my samsung galaxy prevail with boost. I think it's a Virgin Mobile thing. Initially, when setting up Google Voice, Virgin Mobile wouldn't allow me to use google voice voicemail as default voicemail; I was supposed to dial *2 some numbers I dont remember and then my google voice number but got the Virgin Mobile automated message telling me I couldn't dial that number.

Virgin Mobile doesn't support call forwarding of any kind.

I have asked about having my Voice Mail disabled and told that too they don't support. I have read of others saying their voice mail was disabled. But until I see it for myself I don't believe that.

I figured out that if I want to send a caller to my google voice mail I let the phone ring until it stops ringing if however I click on end call on my phone then that caller will be directed to my virgin mobile voicemail.

Yea I found this a few weeks ago with my Nexus on boost that if you let it ring till it stops it will take you to GV voicemail but ignore the call and it goes to boost or in this case virgin voicemail.

The thing is, this is not call forwarding from or through VM.
You are calling a GV number and it is calling VM number. That is not call forwarding on VM part. And would be no different than you setting your home phone to call your VM cell phone if you left the house.

And it works on my Triumph just fine.

I have the intercept with VM and when I make calls it shows the callers number in my call log.

maybe you're doing it differently then I am.. I downloaded the google voice app and have it ask me which number to use when I click to call a contact.. then I'll pick use google voice for everyone except my parents.. and it shows the correct contact.. not my google voice number in my call log.

I am going crazy trying to figure this out. How do I make a Google Voice call? When I go to the Google Voice settings, the only options I have is to use Google Voice for international calls or not at all. Is this all you guys have, or can you make local calls with it as well.

Is Google voice just for voicemails and international calls?

I have my GV set to ask me when I make a call if I want to use GV or not. I think it may be setting on the website rather then within the app.

That's not what's being talked about. On other carriers you can set GV voicemail to pick up even when someone dials your carrier provided phone number. This is done by setting up a call forward to your google voice number from your carrier number. VM doesn't support call forwarding so it doesn't work.

We already know the intercept and optimus do it right - that's why this thread was created, because the Triumph is the only one that isn't.
