Help Google Voice on Verizon

Morning all,

A couple days ago, fed up with their promises of improved services never coming to fruition, I jumped off the Now Network (Sprint) and signed up with Big Red. I swapped out my Note 3 for a Note 3. The device wasn't the issue... Just the network.

Everything is going swimmingly, though I *do* miss unlimited data, now that I have a huge, fast 4g network at my disposal!

My ONLY problem at this point is this: on Sprint, Google Voice is ridiculously easy to set up. While on Old Yeller, I enjoyed using GV for voice mail AND the very cool ability to send SMS from an internet browser on any PC.

This is not *quite* as easy to set up on Big Red.

Anyone succeeded and can help a brother out?

I set this up a long time ago on a VZW GNex by following the on screen prompts. It's continued working on my VZW Note 3. The key is you need to forward your call to another number, GV should provide prompts on how to do that.

One important note, GV is not integrated on VZW as it is on Sprint.

The lack of integration is definitely an issue! I've gone through the set up a couple times in the past few days, following the prompts as you directed. Still no SMS on the PC love.

Maybe it's not possible (because it's not integrated)?

I have used google voice since prob 2010 or so. Never had an issue with it, downloaded it, opened it and went thru the settings, only thing is when you get to the end it says your subscriber doesn't do something with google voice and you just skip it, thats all.

I second this- just ignore the 'not supported' warning at the end and should be good to go. Works flawlessly for me.

Well, I've got it up and running again. Once I got over the idea of using MY phone number as the GV number, it was easy. The Sprint integration is what I was hoping for, as I do not want to change my number, but my ultimate goal (SMS from any PC) has been accomplished. I just need to tell people "Hey, this is me" when I text from a PC. I also need to decide if I want to forward my cell to GV for v-mail purposes.

In the end, the one thing I liked about Sprint turned out to be Google. Natch.

Hmmm....I never thought about using GV to text from computer. I use mysms which uses my Google acct so I don't have to say it's me.
