Help Google Voice Question

So I finally downloaded Google voice. I was prompted with 2 options when signing up, I choose the second one which enabled me to choose a Google phone number. Everything is set up and running good, however I do not know how to enable Google voice to handle the voice mails of my Verizon number also. When I call my Verizon number, It goes to the old mail box, not my new GV one.

From home screen Menu > Settings> Call > Voicemail service > Google Voice

You have to set your call forwarding on Verizon to call your google voice number. Dial *71<your GV#>. Dial *73 to cancel it. *71 is for conditional calls forwarding - used only if you don't answer your phone (or your phone is off?).
