Google Voice update (0.2.8)

I don't know if this has been answered: is it worth having GV with a Sprint HTC hero? I get unlimited texting and visual voicemail in my plan. Any other benefits?

thx

Sure, there are many benefits. If you work in a place that has poor reception, u can have gv forward to ur work phone. Or if u are on the computer all day, u can receive and answer texts on the computer instead of your phone. Also, gv has really good international rates...including free to canada. So you can use your cell instead of a land line.

Just some of my ideas. Sky's the limit!

If you already have unlim txting and visual voicemail, then the other pros are:

Transcribing Voicemails (I forget if Visual Voicemail has this feature)

Voicemails accessible online

Call forwarding

Diffrent voicemail messages to different contacts

Low rates for international calling

Can block calls and contacts

Can screen unknown calls by directing them to Voicemail first

Can have multiple phones attached to your google number, therefore when certain contacts call, one two or all phones can ring based on ur preference.

There are probably more pros but you should stop by the google voice page and ask for an invite. They're pretty friendly about sending out invites, albeit it does take some time (i.e. A week or so for me)
