google voice

I use google voice for my voice mail. I used it on my original droid. I went to download it yesterday, and when I was trying to "validate" my number. It said it couldn't validate it. So now I don't have a voice mail at all. I can't recover my original voice mail for some reason. and verizon was no help when I tried to recover my original voice mail. Any idea why my google voice won't validate my number? I am tired of not being able to read any voice mails!

Thanks for the help.

If you have the same number on the new phone it's already validated, because you did that on your old phone.

Steps t getting it working:

  1. Just log into the account that it was using before
  2. skip the validation
  3. Make sure that Settings --> Call settings --> Voicemail service is set to Google Voice (although technically, even this does not have to be done - it is just for if you want to access Voicemail via a call as opposed to using the GV app)
    • And if you do change it, you'll get an error message about how it cannot read the settings
    • Go back to the previous screen and the reading settings dialog box will still be there acting like it is trying to read
    • Hit the Home key
    • Go back into Settings --> Call settings --> and you'll see that it is now set to GV.
