Can anybody direct me to a way to nuke the GV on my phone? I'm having to press "1" before I can answer calls and it's really pissing me off b/c I'm missing important calls for business...Anybody?

It sounds like you want to get rid of GV all together. The easiest way to stop the phone from ringing or getting a text is to log into the GV settings on line and unchecked that number.

Well, uh, I've tried that but it doesn't allow. The blocked out # is my Google phone #.

The # blocked here is my Sprint #. I'm clueless....
 
If you can log into Google Voice there will be a Star (kinda looks like a gear) on the right hand side of the screen with a arrow for a drop down box. Go there to settings and look under the phone tab.

They might help me but they are to small.....I enlarged them but they were to blurred to make out
 
I found that on the phone tab there is a selection to turn off call screening in "Calls". Sooo, I shall try that (as soon as 'someone' gets home so I can use her phone to call mine!).

Maybe that's the ticket?!?! :)
 
OK I looked at the first picture and there isn't a phone (cell or land) assigned to that GV number. You might try assigning it to a new number.

I have tried to do that but, you guessed it, nada. It tells me that my number is not available at this time, or something to that affect..
 
Ok..

I checked out the link mentioned above...

I won't be able to record a message for Sprint voicemail because I won't have any Sprint vm...

I will need to figure out what I can use for retrieving missed calls!?!?

I dont know much about google voice, but why wont you have Sprint vm?
Isn't there a Sprint voicemail app on your rom?

Be VERWY, VERWY, careful when running with more than one google email acct! Two have messed me up over this...

What I have discovered is that when I flashed the new ROM and was going thru the setup, I assigned my cell # to the business acct GV (which it was not before) instead of being assigned and setup thru my personal acct. Can't 'splain it all 'cause my eyes are bloodshot from looking at this stupid screen for hours trying to get this figgered out!

Anyway, ALL'S WELL with my GV now...

Well, uh ummm....

I don't know! How can I find out? Because IF it is, I'd rather have it or Handsent. But since I'm MUCH more a n00b than a dev, Ijust made an assumption that since my last ROM didn't have it that this one wouldn't either...they are both aosp.

Great question...perhaps one I SHOULD have been asking :D

Handcent is a text/mms app to send text messages.
Voice mail app should be listed in your app drawer on your phone.
I forget if you mentioned what rom you have but according to your info under your screen name you have Cyanogen mod something.

Well I did have CM7 until this week when I flashed the Deck's Reloaded .44...

By golly there is a vm app in the drawer!! Honestly, I'd MUCH rather have the SPrint based vm than GV but now that I've got GV up and going I don't think I wanna disturb anything just yet. Maybe in a few weeks I might look at it...if not sooner.

Thanks for the 'heads up' on that!

PS: Guess I better change my info on the left panel!
