Google Wallet Support?

Now that NFC is enabled with Ice Cream Sandwich, does anyone here have any news about whether or not Google Wallet will support our device at any point? As it stands now, you can install the app, but it says the device isn't supported when you try to run it :(

I believe AT&T has not activated NFC on the Note. In fact, I thought I read that Sprint was the only carrier that has activated NFC on any phone. I agree - I'd love to be able to use Google Wallet.

It HAS been activated (NFC) with the Ice Cream Sandwich update. You can now enable it in the settings. I suppose it just comes down to apps that can make use of it now. Perhaps since this was only just enabled a few days ago, Google simply hasn't had time to work the Note into the list of supported devices for Google Wallet, so I'm hoping that it will work in the near future.

I imagine AT&T has specific reasons to control Google Wallet on their devices. They may want a slice of the pie. May be concerned about liability. ???

Does the Note actually have the NFC chip? I didn't think it did.

Of course it does! If anything, manufacturers usually disable things with software. It would be too cost-prohibitive to start altering pieces left and right for individual carriers. The NFC antenna is that thing with the contacts on the inside of the rear cover.

And again, as I've mentioned, with ICS you can actually enable it in the settings. If the chip wasn't there, that wouldn't be possible.
