Help Googlemail not recognised

Hi,

My friends kid got hold of my phone and has locked it by entering the security lock incorrectly more than 3 times.
The handset is having problems recognising my Googlemail/Gmail account.
The account itself does not have any issues as I am able to log in on my PC.

Does anyone have any suggestions that can help me unlock the handset?

I had this problem a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't get into my gmail account from my phone. In the end I had to do a reset of the phone. Everything is fine now.
