Help got a free 2x with water damage.

I got a free optimus 2x from a buddy. phone's water damage stickers are red but he cant remember it ever getting soaked in water. He found the phone dead and then we noticed the stickers. the phone wont turn on and since I know LG or T-Mobile wont exchange it I figured id try to repair it myself. A friend told me that I should open it and clean the corrosion with some rubbing alcohol but I cant find any help online? Has anybody tried to do that to 2x or any phone for that matter? Any help would be appreciated

I saw a video recently where a phone was dunked in IPA for a while, then stored in rice for a while.

The i've uesd a jar and some of those anit-moisture bags you used to find in shoe boxes in the past. Be careful with the internals a most are v-fragile. You may need a new battery, test it if you can. If it starts up but won't boot properly re-flashing the stock rom might work. Good luck.
