Got an LG Marquee now. S3 is dead. What phone should I get?

As for the Warp 4G, several of us got it for $100 a while back. It's a good value at that price but don't pay full retail ($200) for it. ZTE phones get a lot of complaints, especially earlier models like OG Warp, but no issues with my 4G version so far. Easily rooted with framaroot, removed bloatware, running smooth.

One word comes to mind when choosing a Boost phone...compromise.
I don't know how to determine which phones are likely to receive OS updates in the future.

There is honestly no way of knowing which Boost mobile phones will or will not get upgrades.
The Moto G is getting kitkat in the spring but you said you want 4g so it is out.
Just going from my 2 years with Boost and browsing forums, I think anyone buying a new Boost phone should go into it assuming they will not receive major updates. Of course some phones have received updates, but don't expect that you will. Unless the phone is advertised as guaranteed to get updated...like the Moto G will get KitKat.

BestBuy.com has the F7 on sale right now for 199.99...
Considering your parameters, probably your best choice if you need a new phone now.

It's a pretty nice phone if you have LTE in your area, especially at that price. The biggest difference I see between it and the S3, which I have, is that the camera doesn't take as nice of looking pictures (they're kind of yellow and grainy) and it doesn't have as much internal memory (8gb vs 16gb.)
Wait for the Max to see how it is. It's out in a couple weeks...actually no a week now that I think about it
If it ends up being a flop performance wise, and you have LTE in your area (or it's coming soon), get the LG Optimus F7 if you can stand LG's terrible software. If you like a more well built software and don't care about 4.4 or even 4.3 get the HTC One SV.

Its on the Rumored list to get 4.4 KitKat ETA 2nd to 3rd Quarter. This is coming from an inside source from LG that Phone Arena Has. I will be able to Confirm this Once they have released 4.4 KitKat for their Flagship device here in the US ETA 1 month.

Nothing good about that phone other than its screen, and the resolution on that isn't even impressive Lol. The fact that its made by zte should be an automatic red flag, give it a few weeks you'll start experiencing random reboots weird lags etc.
Everything I've read around here about ZTE phones has been a buyer beware type of alarm for me and driven me away from buying one
Warp 4G right now is on sale, there are some issues with it though. The camera seems to bug out when using applications that use the camera such as Twitter, Instagram, etc. Has random reboots from time to time that can only be fixed with a factory reset.
I know you mentioned that you're not okay with the Moto G because it's 3G, but that's really your best option for performance in a phone without going over $300 or so.
Your next option is the Optimus F7 which lacks a good CPU and doesn't have support for anything above 4.1.

Why would you say it lacks CPU? It has the same processor as the GS3 a Snapdragon S4, only clocked at 1.5GHz when the GS3 is clocked at 1.7GHZ. So what you're basically saying is that the GS3 lacks CPU.... Compared to the Moto G yeah sure its quad core lol. The F7 current version is android 4.1.2 and is rumored to be updated to KitKat based on a Phone Arena source that they have inside LG. I for one think that it will be updated to KitKat. It just makes sense if you look at the facts.
Yes, I've stated it in previous posts that the GS3 lacks a decent CPU. It's a downgraded version of the flagship launch. Specifically downgraded from a nice sharp quad core to a high end dual core. However for a phone that isn't upgradeable to 4.4 (which is designed to use less resources to run efficiently) that makes it a "lacking CPU". Since the F7 has a very similar CPU with some clock changes, it isn't much better or worse.
Comparing the performance of the GS3 and F7 to other phones from other prepaid companies in the same price range (or even Boost itself) the price doesn't justify itself...unless you REALLY want LTE.
I wasn't comparing it to the S3...they both lack decent performance for their prices.

From all the hiccups that we've been seeing with Samsung and kitkat for the S3 and S4...I'm seeing it to be a likely conclusion that this version of the GS3 will not get kit kat.

It's already been rumored and posted about on numerous android news sites (like this one but I'm not looking for it) that the S3 will be getting Kit Kat in April. The Boost S3 is the exact same phone as the Sprint S3 so as long as Sprint gets it, which if it's actually released they will, then Boost and Virgin Mobile should get it also. 4.3 rolled out to all 3 (Sprint, Boost, and Virgin Mobile) at the exact same time, along with the previous update back in August.
Even if they never release Kit Kat officially, for a rooted user there is so much development going on for the S3 that it's kind of overwhelming to sift through all the roms, mods, and kernels. Wetbiker made a nice thread in the Boost S3 section but even then it's just SO MUCH STUFF.
