Got mine! First impressions & questions...

Huh? What are you asking us to test?

I think he's asking if it has SVDO. That's the ability to do voice & data simultaneously over 3G without using WiFi or LTE. IIRC only the Thunderbolt and maybe the Rezound had that. Verizon didn't push/advertise it because they couldn't guarantee decent results everytime.

The way it works is your voice moves down to 1X & your data runs on EVDO (3G) to allow them both to run at the same time. Voice quality wasn't too bad, but the data was slow due to the fact that you were essentially running 2 data streams at the same time.

I can see where it would be handy though. You're on the phone and someone tells you where to go (you know what I mean) and you launch your navigation app to get you there.

Been lurking for awhile and will finally be upgrading from my old school LG VX8600.

Saw this in the comments of the Endgadget review. $40 from Lets talk. I have never shopped there but thought i would share since it was $60 less than the price at Best Buy.

Tried to post the link but since i am new it won't show the url. boo.

1. make a call
2. open maps
3. search for an address

Does it find it? If it does, can you select it and use the Navigation tool to route to it?

This doesn't work on my DINC 2.

Correct, that will not work on a Inc2 over 3G, however the LTE network was suppose to allow for this. I would be interested to know also. If you do the above your phone call should NOT be dropped... To verify it for sure, be sure you are NOT in wifi range, or turn off your wifi...

VERY impressed!

The phone is CRAZY responsive. Screen is beautiful. Narrowness vs. my INC2 is not so great but I'll live (wish it was the same form factor, love the 2" screen.) It's FAST, FAST, FASSSSSSST! Menus (ICS 4.0) are taking a little getting used to. Sense is awesome. Light, solid feel. Screen glass is gorgeous, almost don't want to cover it up. Got the Verizon OEM holster case with kickstand that I was hoping they'd make.

Got the phone for $99 ($199 - $50 rebate - $50 online discount). Got the $5 Asurion warranty (I usually buy the warranty for one year only) not the most expensive ($6.99) plan.

Question: can anyone tell me how to turn off haptic feedback? I found the place to do so in the Sense settings, but it is OFF there and still happening.

More later...

Picture of your receipt or it didn't happen. I tried this. I knew they would say no but I tried anyways. Online you get $50 instant rebate. In store you get $50 mail in rebate you don't get both discounts online or at the store it's one or the other. Maybe you got lucky and they screwed up but I can tell you I tried this and got no where with them.

I got mine last night through letstalk.com. I got it too late to see that Droid20 at checkout thing, but thanks for the tip!

I paid $40, plus $35 for "one time upgrade and activation" but then got $25 credit for having my co-worker get one, (and he got $25 off as well). Also free overnight shipping.

If you go this route (lets talk) then you should definitely refer a "friend" even if it's someone you don't know on this forum.

Net Price: $50

Got mine two days ago. Have enjoyed it so far. Love the new Scene 4.0 and getting use to all the new bells and whistles. LOVE IT!:D

I finally got to play with one in the store today...

I loved it! Definitely my favorite phone in the entire store (no S3s though).

Screen size is great, form factor was great... zippy processor. Nice phone!

I've had mine a few days now and love it. I think the only thing that I miss from my DINC 1 is the hardware button which I often used to snap a picture and to move the cursor around if I was editing some text.

My only other issue is when reading email there appears to be no way to go forward/previous to the other emails without going back to the list. Also the default bunching (whatever you want to call it) of similar emails threw me off.

damb it, that is what the last update did to the Inc 2. How can Apple patent some basic function like this. Come On... Google Nav and Goolge Search and you can't link the two so it opens right up in Maps and start Navigation? I wonder if the SG3 does the same thing when it comes out... Sorry but that is a joke, my old Org Inc prompted you to open in the browser or Maps... I think I am going to have to root this Inc 2

Thanks for checking kjarrett!!

Yes it goes to a browser with the map which sucks cause on my DINC 1 I did this a lot and would go straight to maps and allow me to NAVIGATE. I don't see how to do that now. SOOOO LAME!

Search in Maps instead of Google.

Thanks that helps, just not as good as it was before.

For example if I search for best buy in maps it finds the closest which is actually closed and then I have to zoom out to figure out which one I want. Where before I would just a get a list of them and then click directions for the one I want. Prefer the old way but this new way is ok.

Now if I could only figure out how to move forward/back in emails without going back to the list. Also not sure I like how it groups some emails together as if they are a thread.

Went down to the store over lunch and openly fondled the thing. The screen looks slimmer than the Inc2 and is definitely taller. It looked to me like they took the Inc2, squished it in the middle and it spread up and down and that's where they ended up. It seemed snappy enough, but it had no SIM in it and there weren't any onboard apps to really test with well. I will likely end up snagging one off CL or the classifieds in a month or so when prices on them fall.

Yep, you can thank Apple for that as well. It was a part of the law suit clicking on things in the internet and opening them directly in an app. Makes me want to go back to the Org Inc. You can do it in the "Places" App. I tried on my Inc 2 and that also does open in Maps. Still to me it's a work around. The thing I don't get is how you can patent things like this? That is crap...!! I want to know if the SG3 has this same restrictions or if the law suit doesn't include them. Apple is trying to take the competition out because they can't make a phone good enough without trying to take the competition out.

What email app?

The stock one. I think I found it just disappointed where it is. I was able to go into account settings and turn off threading view.

The bigger disappointment is to move forward and backward through emails while viewing an email is you must press the "Menu" image and then select next and previous instead of their being an arrow like there was on the original DINC.

Did you try swiping left or right on the screen? I am not using the stock email client, but that is pretty standard.

Yea tried that, only scrolls the email body left and right. Seems kind of dumb to not have an easy way to go forward and back through emails.

They force you to give up unlimited data when you get this phone? Is that specific to this phone or is that just something they're doing now with any phone upgrade? I haven't heard anything about this until now :(

The Share Everything plans started the 6/28 before that this was a pretty well advertised change so I'm surprised so many people don't know this along with the $30 upgrade fee.

This is for ANY phone upgrade not just this phone. If you want to keep your unlimited data plan you would have to pay FULL price for any phone you are wanting to upgrade to.

All upgrades are now charged a $30 upgrade fee as well.

The new share everything plans come with unlimited talk and text. They also no longer charge extra for tethering. I went with the 2GB limit because I don't use more then 1GB a month and I will actually save $40 a month compared to my old plan. Additionally you can always upgrade your plan in the middle of the cycle if you see you might go over and then lower it at the next cycle if you are not going to go over.
