Got swype today

I mean for the droid, I didn't know it was previously available

I have had it for months on my Droid. Recently I gave it up for Smart Keyboard Pro then last night I got accepted into the Beta test. I'm still sticking with Smart Keyboard Pro though as it is a much better keyboard.

I couldn't agree with you more! I had been using Swype since I got my Droid in February and I used it up until a couple months ago when I couldn't get it to install on multiple ROMs. First I tried and liked SwiftKey so I bought it (unfortunately) then a few days later I stumbled upon SmartKeyboard Pro and I absolutely love it! SwiftKey had too many quirks that annoyed the crap out of me when trying to input certain symbols or text in a specific manner, and Swype eventually became more of a nuisance with time as it starting perceiving my swypes incorrectly and it would take more time to go back and edit it than to have typed it in via keyboard. Just my two cents :)

I like ito alot, it's very intuitive.
That word gets misused a lot. I wouldn't call Swype intuitive as you can't just hand it to someone and expect them to be proficient with it without going through the tutorial.

It's accurate and quick and easy to use (these are all subjective, of course) but that's not what intuitive means.

I've been a beta tester for Swype since they first opened up the betas for the Motorola DROID. I ahve not had issues with it installing on ROMs except whenever I tried o use Titanium backup to restore apps (and Swype data was also restored). I now uncheck Swype and Swype Installer before making TiBu of my apps. Works perfectly fine.

Swype is a bit of a memory hog, but the December update is working almost as well as the old 5612(?) beta from way back when (forgot if that was the actual version number, I think it was).

While I agree it is not 'intuitive' per se, as most of use are used to hunting and pecking, it makes my life a lot easier. Anything that is not swipe-enabled (allowing for single finger / thumb typing) is simply not good enough for me. And since they have now incorporated my number missing feature - a mic - I'm 99.5% satisfied with it.

I didn't go through any tutorials, I downloaded it, installed it, and went right to using it. It almost knows what I want to type sometimes even after missing letters, it recognizes contact names, which are more often not common words, it is quick and respoonsive, therefore I call it intuitive, purposely. Thanks, here is the dictionary.com definition of intuitive

But it is still subjective, as is evidenced by the words I boldfaced in your own definition. People forget that the word itself is a very subjective word, and to say something is intuitive and implying that it is intuitive to the general world's population is in fact a major misnomer. A lot of people use Swype - but can you really say, jut based upon the 2, 8, 20, or 500 people that you know, all of whom use swype, that it can still be called intuitive? coming from all sorts of keyboards, such as a typewriter, computer KB, old-style T-9 phone 'keyboards', etc, it is hard to say that Swype is intuitive b/c you really don't have anywhere close to a majority of users exposed to it. Takeshi was correct in his analysis, although you are not entirely wrong in your original statement. Your most effective argument against Takeshi's rejoinder would have been "It is intuitive to me.
Oh well you tried, on to the next opinion forcing somewhere else. Good day
