Got two TF300s coming today, a few quick questions.

I ordered two TF300s for the wife and I, and they are scheduled to be delivered today. I read you should charge them before using at least two hours, is that correct?

I am planning on putting on Screen Guards (the wet ones that take overnight to dry). Should I worry about dead pixels before? Is that even been a issue?

Do you recommend rooting right away?

Thanks for the info!

Jason

I would check the screen for any sign of dead pixels or anything else you might not want prior to installing the screen protectors.

I opened the box, plugged in the device and charged it while I was using it until it was full. I didn't read that was a requirment, just what I did.

I didn't root mine as the asus launcher is pretty nice and the bloatware seems to be at a minimal. I didn't see the value in messing around with a pretty solid tablet. If there are benifits to rooting that you need, check into it. If you're doing it just because I would hold off.

I've read a couple people had problems with dead pixels, but I didn't have that problem. I also didn't bother charging when I first opened it. I just turned it on and started using it. Haven't noticed any adverse effects as a result.

I also didn't bother rooting. I probably will someday, but I'm really liking the stock experience so far.

Mine was stone-cold dead when i received it and i had no choice but to charge it first. I think the directions suggested charging for several hours before first use so i just let it charge overnight.

Thanks for all the advice. Got them both, both are perfect, applied screenguards to them both, and got them both rooted (so easy) then updated. Will play more with them today but so far pretty happy.

Love that the MicroSD card sits flush, my co-workers that have Primes, their cards stick out.

I'm unlocked and rooted, but still on stock ROM. reason I root all my devices is the abilty to do Nandroid backups and use certain apps that require root access (avast MobileSecurity and Titanium Backup Pro). Both have safed me bother many times over. I must say I love the more or less unadulterated ICS that ASUS have provided. I don't experience any lag, crashes or unresponsiveness so far. The keyboard setup is really slick. I am on the latest .29 ROM release.

Light bleed is the more common issue on the 300 and Prime. Mine has significant bleed in bottom right corner and some on right side.

I've noticed none of the problems that have been stated..no dead pixels, no light bleed, just a downright awesome tablet. I toyed with the idea of getting this thing rooted, just like I thought about getting my SII rooted as well. Thus far it just that..an idea, my last phone an HTC EVO, I had rooted..big mistake, the "friend" who I gave my phone to to root, screwed it,(I would use stronger language..but.) so bad, I had a friend who worked at Sprint give it to one of her coworkers to fix. Never was right after the attempted rooting, so I kinda shy away from rooting anything..unless I really need my TF300 rooted, I'm gonna keep it stock, just as I'm keeping my SII stock, I haven't noticed any problems with my SII..yet, and I may never experience any issues with either one. That said, if I ever feel the need, I will get with someone I absolutely trust to do the rooting, if I tried I would screw it up worse than what my friend did with my EVO.

After 3 weeks of steady use..I must say that I do like my TF300 more and more every day. This is a direct replacement for my ACER Aspire One net book I had which I gave to our adopted daughter. This is by far one of the lightest, tablets I've handled, m Samsung Galaxy Tab 7" feels heavier by comparison. Now with the added multi function docking station adds a couple more ounces to the over all weight. The display on my TF300 is spectacular, brilliant colors, I'm anxious to sit down and watch a movie on this..hmmm..I might just check out what Direct TV has that I can watch on this.
